Gene Simmons, born Chaim Witz in 1949 in Haifa, Israel, is best known as the bassist and co-lead singer of Kiss, one of the most iconic rock bands of the 1970s and beyond. After moving to the United States and changing his name, Simmons co-founded Kiss in the early 1970s.
